It is used to treat chronic constipation (long-term pooing problems) in children aged 1 to 11 years. It is also used to treat very bad constipation, known as fecal impaction, in children aged 5 to 11 years. It helps your child have a comfortable bowel movement, even if they have been constipated for a long time.

You should talk to your doctor before giving it if your child has a heart or kidney problem, an impaired gag reflex (problems with swallowing), or reflux esophagitis (heartburn). You must also tell your doctor if your child is taking or has recently taken any other medicines. Some medicines, such as anti-epileptics, may not work as effectively while using this product.
Your child may develop excessive diarrhea. If this occurs, stop giving it and make sure they drink plenty of fluids. If you are worried, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Keep that of the reach and sight of children. Do not use that after the expiry date, which is printed on the sachet and carton. The unmixed sachets should not be stored above 30°C.

After mixing with water: If your child cannot drink the solution straight away, keep it covered and in the fridge (2°C – 8°C). You must throw away any solution that is not used within a 24-hour period.

Movicol® Paediatric Plain contains 93.4 mg (4.062 mmol) sodium (main component of cooking/table salt) per sachet. This is equivalent to 4.6% of the recommended maximum daily dietary intake of sodium for an adult. It’s contraindicated to take Movicol® Paediatric Plain if there is intestinal perforation or obstruction due to structural or functional disorder of the gut wall, ileus, severe inflammatory conditions of the intestinal tract, such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis and toxic megacolon, or hypersensitivity to the active substances.5
